Pradhyumn murder case: Pinto family granted anticipatory bail

NEW DELHI: The Pinto family, founders of the Ryan Group of Institutions, were on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail in the Pradhyumn Thakur murder case by the Punjab and Haryana high court, ANI has reported.

The high court had in early October stayed the arrest of Augustine Pinto, his wife Grace Pinto and their son Ryan, and granted them interim relief till December 5.

However, the trio were asked to assist in the investigation and not leave country.

The CBI had alleged that it had prima facie found that Ryan, the group chief executive officer (CEO), could be involved in the conspiracy behind the murder of the seven-year-old Class II student. “Possibility of him (Ryan Pinto) being member of the conspiracy behind murder of master Pradhyumn in the washroom of Ryan International school, Bhondi, Gurugram on September 8 and its abetment, destruction of the evidence by him cannot be ruled out,” the investigating agency had said.
Earlier today, a civil court granted bail to bus conductor Ashok Kumar, the first arrest in the case.  The CBI had, after taking over the investigation from Gurugram Police, apprehended another student of Ryan International School for the killing.
